The next morning we headed back out to the site we were at the day before, being the land leveling site. We did maybe an hours worth of work when it was decided that there were too many people there. A van loaded up most of the group, leaving 5 of us, all teenagers, at the site without any of us knowing a lick of Spanish. So what did we do? We held puppies until Marta finally gave us some instructions.
As we did some more leveling I tried to befriend the little boy who lived where wer were working. (Pictured below and on the right) Let me tell you about this boy; his name is David and he is eight years old. He was born with muscular dystrophy, and only has three years left to live. He hasn't been told yet, but with his sweet smile and spirit, how could you? I kept trying to talk to him with my very painful spanish, and although he understood the gist of what I was trying to say, he was too shy to talk back. By the end of the day, he was following me around without being too obvious. I just wanted to play and talk to him, but with my horrible spanish and him having troubles walking all we could do was hold puppies together and smile.
Once done leveling we headed back to our original job site and worked on the roof. By the end of the day we were basically pros at nailing roofs.
It was a bit chilly that day, so I ended up wearing three sweatshirts.
As I was getting back from the job site and went to set stuff down in our room I saw some cute little kids playing with cars. So what did I do? I sat down on the floor and played right along with them. They seemed happy and thrilled that I would play with them. We counted cars, played "Where did the car go?", and I may or may not have taught this little boy to have a boy and girl car kiss. ...Yeah let's just say that I didn't teach him that, and he came up with it on his own.
