Having gone through the same experience as her, I was oh so very excited for her.
She had asked me to help and prepare her for the competition, which never really happened, but after watching her compete she did very well. Again she has asked me for help to get her ready for state, and I could not be more thrilled that she asked me.
Her having won makes me miss the world of pageantry. I miss the dress shopping, the stage, the friends, and so much more. This is her journey, not mine. But I'm glad I did have my own journey. It almost seems like I am passing on the title since I never had to pass mine on. You cannot fully understand the feeling unless it happens to you. She is a bit nervous that her life will become freakishly busy, but honestly I am so jealous because when I had the crown I never did many appearances. I went to parades and maybe 3-4 appearances. To me that is what the title is all about; getting out there and serving the community, and working on your platform.
I wish Bethany the very best as she competes for the title of Miss Utah's Outstanding Teen in October. There is no doubt in my mind that I will be there cheering her on.
Congratulations Bethany!
p.s. this is three Miss Lehi's Outstanding Teens in a row that I know personally
