-painted

First day on the job us, those unable to start building the house, set off on a journey to go painting. Modesta, the hermana we were building the house for, knew of a family who could use some painting done. Note: Those who live down in Mexico love bright colors of paint on their house. It's like their joy of their home.

Many people had brought down paint, bright paint, to paint random people's houses. So before leaving the church for the day I had collected all kinds of different colors of paint. Once arriving at the hermans house we got painting hard core. We painted her outside wall magenta and her inside wall a cream/yellow color. While painting my buddy, Colton, accidentally got some paint on one of the doors. Instead of just leaving that one painted spot there, we decided that we would paint over it with another color. Their son David was showing interest in painting. Shelby being the sweetheart that she is invited him to come paint some of the inside wall with her. After the painting door incident I had noticed that that door was David's door. Having Shelby's brother Jordan there to translate he asked David's sister what color David wanted to paint his door. He decided that he wanted it painted green. Halfway through painting his door I came up with a brilliant plan. I quickly told Jordan my plan and he agreed. We then had Jordan translate and tell David that he was going to cover his hands in blue paint and put handprints all over the door. As David's sister told him, he seemed very excited yet curious. Once he started placing his handprints on the door he was laughing and smiling the whole time. To reach the top of the door Jordan had to lift David by his waist. As Jordan was lifting him up I guess David's pants were "falling down". I wish boys today would know when their pants were falling down because this little boy was sure embarrassed about it and his pants falling down didn't even seem like they were falling. It was such a neat experience and I'm glad I was there. It was so cute to see how happy David and his family were just because of paint.
Something funny that happened while we were there was that Shelby and I were dropped off by ourselves while more kids were picked up. As the other kids arrived we quickly found out that none of us knew fluent Spanish. I was the one that knew the best Spanish and my Spanish is awful. So we turned speaking Spanish badly into Spanish charades. I'm sure that family thought we were nuts but we finally got our point across in the end.
