Stories//3

-played lots of basketball
-learned to stucco

Every night we had many locals come and party with us. Each night there were many projects that went on. From sewing, to CPR lessons, to hair cutting lessons, to card games, to basketball and soccer games. I always found myself at the basketball court being one out of maybe 4 girls playing with the locals and those who drove down with the group. After those games of basketball I am now very disappointed in my basketball skills. At least we didn't play much soccer because then I would have really embarrassed myself. Fact: We actually played 10x more basketball than soccer. I was fine with it.

If any of you have stuccoed before or have prepared a wall for stuccoing, you will be able to sympathize with me. If you have not stuccoed before, it certainly teaches you patience. First is preparing the wall. Imagine being in the hot sun stapling black tar paper on the wood then having to work with chicken wire. Ooo I hate chicken wire! You have to pull the chicken wire as tight as you can and then staple around the whole house. Then comes the stuccoing. We were told to start on the side wall. We hardly had any room to move. Learning how to stucco in a small area is very difficult. It was also very messy. See pictures below.

And that's the amount of space we had.
